UCA Executive Team

Jonathan McCullough Sr. was born and raised in Southeast Houston; he is a husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith.  He is a truck driver by trade and natural-born community leader.  The son of a pastor, he has inherited a godly legacy, a genuine love for people, and immense Wisdom from above.

UCA is a vision and a mission that he was given in 2016 for the urban communities of America. His passion is liberating the minds of the misinformed and the lost; his candor and amiable spirit is a match made in Heaven for the mantle that he has been given.

Jonathan has affirmed that his goal is to solely share relatable truths to provoke thought; he does not desire to tell people what to think, but to prevent others from doing so. Jonathan has gained the respect, adoration, and support of thousands of Conservatives across the country and yet, he has stated that he does not aspire to be popular, but rather to wake up a population.

A native Houstonian, Shawn is a wife, mother, and grandmother; she views herself simply as a woman who loves and fears God.

She currently serves as a Precinct Chair and the 1st Vice Chair of the Fort Bend County Republican Party.  Shawn brings to UCA the gifts of administration, accounting, and a servant's heart. She is a lover of truth, as she understands that it is the truth that makes one free; she believes that we are not saved to be silent and is committed to share the truth of God's Word as it relates to government, politics, and culture.

Shawn readily answered the call and opportunity in May 2019 to come alongside Jonathan to ignite the vision, mission, and movement of UCA.  Outside of ministry, she enjoys reading, writing, graphic design, and music.

Rep. Shawn Thierry, currently serving her fourth term in the Texas Legislature, is renowned for her dedication to being a "voice for the voiceless."  Well-regarded as a consensus builder, Rep. Thierry has passed pivotal pieces of legislation on anti-human trafficking, elderly protections, school safety, and public health. A supporter of school choice, she believes that parents should have educational freedom and that children are shielded from extreme ideologies.

One of her most notable achievements was supporting Texas SB 14. which prohibits gender modification for minors under 18. Her eloquent floor speech gained national attention, amassing 2.3 million views on X. Representative Thierry also championed policies such as Texas HB 900, to safeguard children from being exposed to age inappropriate, explicit materials in public school libraries.

In August 2024, Representative Shawn Thierry made headlines by announcing her departure from the Democratic Party, citing its growing allegiance to far-left extremism. Now a member of the Texas House Republican Delegation, she proudly aligns with "the party of Lincoln, faith, family, and freedom.

An alumna of Howard University and Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Shawn has received numerous honors, including being named one of Houston's Top 30 Most Influential Women; however, her most cherished title is "Mom" to her 11-year-old daughter, Klaire Bijou.  Her guiding philosophy comes from Erma Bombeck: ""When I stand before God at the end of my life, I hope to say, 'I used everything You gave me.""  

Houston native, Derrick Hopes, graduated from Jack Yates High School and attended Texas Southern University where he was a member of the Ocean Soul Marching Band.  He is currently an owner/operator for ST Expedited.  His Conservative beliefs stem from his Christian faith, which drives his passion to take the message of Conservatism to the streets of his beloved hometown of Houston and beyond to every urban area in Texas.  As the Executive Director of Texas, he will ensure that the outreach efforts of the Urban Engagement Team are carried out efficiently and effectively.
